The issue is not simply what Trump said, but that he felt his position in life allowed him to do what he wanted. He sees the world as a series of objects to be manipulated according to his wants and pleasures. This is, in essence, the world of the free market, the world of Wall Street, the world of powerful men in powerful corporations. It’s also the world of Goodfellas.
“For us to live any other way was nuts. To us, those goody-good people who worked shitty jobs for bum paychecks, who took the subway to work every day and worried about their bills, were dead. They were suckers. They had no balls. If we wanted something, we just took it. If anyone complained twice, they got hit so bad they never complained again. It was routine. You didn’t even think about it.” (From “Goodfellas”)
